Gherardini

“Women are literally crazy about rhinestones.”

The maison was founded in 1885 by Garibaldo Gherardini, who opened a small workshop in Florence, specializing in leather and leather cases, that throughout the 20th century developed the business into an international brand. But it was Paolo Seminara, the first great Italian eyewear designer who was already the father of the Vogue brand, who designed the first Italian eyewear collection for the Florentine house in 1976: the first to be silkscreened and made in all the colors of the bags in the Gherardini collection, with a pattern that reproduced the logo in sequence and the first to make abundant use of rhinestones and other decorations, thus freeing the eyeglass from the simple function of “prosthesis” and finally making it a fashion accessory. In fact, Gherardini eyeglasses were among the first to be used without lenses for vision correction, only to satisfy aesthetic needs.

When it is available, we provide Gherardini vintage glasses with their own original case, except for those that have deteriorated over time.
