Carrera

Carrera, from protective glasses to races with a Porsche

Carrera sunglasses were developed from an idea by Wilhelm Anger, who revolutionised the world of sports glasses in 1968 with the revolutionary brand OPTYL. Carrera initially manufactured protective sunglasses. Then, thanks to the TV series Miami Vice, in which Don Johnson wore Anger’s legendary Carrera 5512, they came to epitomise everything to do with sport and an in-vogue life style.
Success came with the “Carrera Panamericana”, a sports car racing event in Mexico, which gratified Anger’s passion for fast cars and contributed to link the name of Carrera with the mythical brand Porsche, with which it came to an agreement for a reciprocal use of the name. Sales continued successfully for decades and Carrera became the name for sports eyewear par excellence.

When it is available, we provide Carrera vintage glasses with their own original case, except for those that have deteriorated over time.
